SUSTAINABLE SONGWRITING CONTEST
Calling all singer-songwriters who care about the earth!
Write a song about sustainability and you could win prizes and the chance to
perform it at RE-Fest!

Competition Rules
Contestants may submit up
to three songs for consideration. The entrance fee is $10 per song. Checks
should be made out to RE-Fest and included with the entrance
materials.
Contestants should submit
their recordings on an audio CD with the track number(s) clearly specified.
Songwriters may also submit mp3 files burned to a CD or DVD. All entries
must include the artist's current contact information including name,
address, phone number, and e-mail address. Please include a short
biographical note.

Guidelines:

Entries should relate to the theme of
sustainability, renewable energy, or conservation
-
Judging is based on relevance and quality of the
song, not on recording quality.

Song-length limit: 5 minutes per song.

Contestants cannot be signed to a major label or
publishing deal.

All tapes and CD's must be postmarked by July
15th to be eligible.

Three
finalists will be chosen for the RE-fest Songwriter Showcase.

You will be notified by August 1st if you are
selected.

Only finalists will be notified. Finalists will
be posted on the RE-fest website by August 15th

Three
finalists will each perform their original songs on the RE-fest
Solar Stage.

Acoustic instruments with pickups are permitted,
including basic EQ, but no effects are allowed.

Instruments allowed are those which can be
carried out to the mics with the performer.
Judging Criteria
-
35% Quality of Composition (includes depth,
insight, cleverness, incredible beauty.)

35% Quality of Vocal Rendering (includes vocal
quality, pitch, delivery, etc.)

30% Quality of Overall Performance (inc.
instrumental technique, stage presence, audience rapport)
